St. Clair County Community Mental Health (SCCCMH) announces that artwork by SCCCMH artists will be on display at Studio 1219 from September 17th through October 17th. Studio 1219 is located at 1219 Military Street in Port Huron. The displayed art features a wide range of mediums – pen, ink, graphite, colored pencil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels and pottery.
An open reception will be held at Studio 1219 on Thursday, September 17th from 4 to 6 p.m. Artists will be on-hand to discuss their original works of art, many of which will be for sale. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.
Participating in art classes allows students to build pathways for discovery and recovery. Showcasing the talents of individuals with mental illness and developmental disabilities underlines the potential all people have and reduces community stigma that often accompanies people with disabilities.
