Breast Cancer Ribbon
The Art of Being a Woman

October is Breast Cancer Prevention and Awareness Month. Studio 1219 supports this cause with our Women's Show and Bra Invitational during the month of October.

  • Women artists are featured in the Van Gogh Solo gallery at Studio 1219 during the month of October.
  • LUNAFEST®, the national touring women's short film festival is hosted by the Studio the first Saturday evening in October and is made possible, in part, by the generous support of E&A Credit Union, Woman’s Life, and Citizens First Foundation. This unique film festival highlights women as leaders in society, illustrated through nine short films by women filmmakers. The films range from animation to fictional drama, and cover topics such as women’s health, motherhood, body image, sexuality, cultural diversity, and breaking barriers. The 2009 Lunafest will be October 3rd at 7 pm, tickets available now at Studio 1219.
  • Bra Invitational: Everyone is welcome to decorate a bra for display in our Bra Invitational. Decorated bras will be on display the month of October. Visitors can purchase tickets to vote on their favorite bra. All bras are auctioned off and the creators of the top 3 voted bras will receive prizes at the Women's Finale Show.
  • Half of the proceeds from the Bra Invitational will benefit the Studio 1219 Breast Cancer Fund held at the Community Foundation of St. Clair County. This fund helps underinsured and uninsured women receive proper breast care screening and exams. Learn more about this Fund and how you can donate. The other half of the proceeds benefit Studio 1219 general operations.
  • Women in Song and Verse takes place the evening of October 16th at 7 pm, features music and poetry celebrating the Art of Being a Woman.
  • The 2009 Women’s Show Finale, featuring local firefighters, policemen and service club gentlemen modeling bras for auction will take place on October 29, 2009. Tickets will go on sale October 1st at Studio 1219.
