Webb: Weekend offers chance to roam, sip some wine
~ May 16, 2008 ~
The stars have aligned this week for food and wine lovers. Check all this stuff out:
Be a philanthropic cosmopolitan
Art, food, local bands, beer, wine and trolley rides ... almost sounds like a European art fair.
You can experience such a worldly art event Saturday at The Renaissance Roam, where you can trolley your way around the world from 4 to 10:30 p.m.
Purchase a passport (just a $10 donation) at Studio 1219, 1219 Military St. in downtown Port Huron, and hop on a trolley that will shuttle you to five worldly “port” locations with themes from Germany, Australia, Italy, New Orleans and Ireland.
At each “port,” you’ll find art displays from local artists, as well as tasty edibles and potables matching the location theme. Thirty-one artists are participating this year, so you’re sure to find a treasure to fill that space above your sofa and a bauble to display on that small side table.
Proceeds from the art tour benefit our local art incubator, Studio 1219. So be a philanthropic cosmopolitan Saturday and eat and drink your way through one of the biggest art events of the year.
