UPDATE: Port Huron Peace Project at Studio 1219
Posted February 07, 2012
Studio 1219 is hosting a special event, War, Art, and You, on February 18 from 2:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. to promote peace and honor our service personnel. The event will feature Master Sergeant Bob Coulter, speaking about his book, “World at War, WW2: Four Years, Four Months, Twenty Three Days” and his experiences in World War Two. The event will include additional speakers, veterans, a short presentation on Picasso’s Guernica, and an opportunity to create a submission for the Studio’s “Picasso Becomes You” War, Art, and You mural.
The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are encouraged by calling the Studio at (810) 984-2787. Anyone who has been touched by the adversities of war, and those who have a hope for peace, is encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
The mural is part of the Studio’s Picasso Becomes You project and will be unveiled during the performance at the McMorran Place Theater on May 19. This modern mural will be comprised of contributions collected from vets, family members, students and others impacted by war. Final selections for the completed mural will be chosen by the design team putting it together. Submissions are welcomed on paper or in an electronic file format. For more information on how to submit a symbol, idea, word or element to the mural, please contact Jenny Rogers-Belleau at .
