Posted September 12, 2011
Studio 1219 presents its annual “Hands On Art” arts festival 10:00am – 5:00pm this Saturday, September 17, and Sunday, September 18. The free event will be held at St. Clair County Community College, 323 Erie Street in Port Huron Michigan in the Student Center and the Fine Arts Building. This is the Studio’s hands-on, come-and-get-messy, playing-in-the-arts-Arts-Festival unlike any other! Click here for more info! Parking is free as well. Please click here for revised map - local construction has closed some access roads!
“Hands On Art” is brought to the region through the generous support of the Stebbins’ Family Foundation, the Blue Water Arts Committee of the Community Foundation of St. Clair County, and St. Clair County Community College.
Studio 1219 and its cultural partners once again host this unique event, with lots of arts activities throughout. Some daily highlights include:
· The “Children’s Canvas” area has art projects for ages 14 and under and includes a preschool area featuring drawing and painting.
· The “Adult Hands-On” area has unique art projects for 14 and up such as liquid watercolor, airbrushing, jewelry making, lampworking and more.
· Visit the “Arts in Action” tent and see the artists hard at work demonstrating their talents and unusual styles in a wide range of art mediums such as woodcarving, printmaking, lampworking, weaving, and more!
· In the “Raku Yard,” there will be glazing and firing of pottery for the public for a small fee. Pick out a piece of pottery, glaze it, fire it in the Raku kiln, and take it home that day!
· Join in the “Clay Games” put on by the Studio’s potters.
· Studio 1219’s “Artist Network” will be present with an area filled with fine art for sale.
· In the “Young Collectors” area, youths 17 and under can start their own collection of original Fine Art for a very reasonable fee.
· “Enter Stage Right Theatre Arts” area will host stations of behind-the-scenes theatre, including the popular wound makeup station.
· Entertainment will run all day, everyday, in the Fine Arts Theater.
And there is much, much more throughout the weekend! Click here for more info!
