Save the dates—and start making those brassiere-works-of-art. E&A Credit Union, Woman’s Life, and Studio 1219 are proud to present Studio
1219’s Fourth Annual “The Art of Being a Woman!” This year’s firefighter-finale – when local firefighters model the top bras—will be Saturday, November 6 at 7pm at Studio 1219, 1219 Military Street, Port Huron. But the deadline for entering brassiere masterpieces is October 1! Entry is free, and the funds raised through the month support the Studio and the Studio’s Breast Cancer Fund for local women.
Last year, over 130 bra-art entries were displayed in the Studio’s Van Gogh and Chase Galleries. Since its inception in 2008, the Studio’s fund has raised over $9,413 and helped 29 local uninsured and underinsured women get screenings and other medical needs at Port Huron and St. Joseph Mercy hospitals.
Also, be sure to join the Studio for LUNAFEST, 7:30pm Saturday October 16. Only $10 admission—which includes refreshments and a few surprises—to see amazing films by, for, and about woman. Films sponsored by LUNA, nutrition for women. Besides supporting the Studio and the Studio’s Breast Cancer Fund, a portion of the proceeds from LUNAFEST go to the national Breast Cancer Fund.
And, new this year to Studio 1219’s fundraising efforts: “The Boobie Boogie.” Pick up an entry form, get some sponsors, and come Sunday October 24 from 2pm till 4pm for this dance-a-thon for moms & daughters, aunts & nieces, girlfriends & girlfriends and raise money for Studio 1219 and it’s Breast Health Awareness Fund at the St. Clair County Community Foundation.
