Studio 1219 reopens January 14th with “The Best of the Best” Show

After record-breaking sales in December (for the second year in a row), Studio 1219 celebrates its reopening this week with “The Best of the Best:” a self-juried show featuring all of the 100-plus members of the Studio’s Artists’ Network. Each artist in the Network is showcasing their one, best-piece. The show includes paintings, sculpture, ceramics and pottery, mixed-media, jewelry and more. “The Best of the Best” show opens 6pm Friday, January 14 with a complimentary wine and cheese reception for the public—and the opportunity to meet the artists. The reception runs until 9pm.
The Studio was closed from January first through the 13th to undergo its annual “shut down.” “We take this time, each year, to close for the first few weeks of January to handle large maintenance jobs, re-set the Studio and get ready for upcoming events in the new year,” said Studio Executive Director Lee-Perry Belleau. “This year, we started by removing ALL of the art work in the building, and spending a week “re-arting.” If you’re a regular visitor to the Studio, you’ll notice the changes immediately,” he continued. “You’ll also notice there’s a lot of great artwork at resonable prices.”
This year, Studio volunteers have painted the Van Gogh, Chase, and Acheson North Galleries, refinished the floors, redesigned the sales counter, set up an office for Executive Director, Lee-Perry Belleau, began work on an additional incubator space, and more. They have also built shelving and storage in the Citizens First Pottery Studio. Besides “The Best of the Best” show in the Chase and Van Gogh Galleries upstairs, new art from the Artists’ Network has also been installed in the Acheson and Desmond Galleries downstairs.
