Oftbeat Percussion has new instruments that are (not) hard to beat
Posted November 29, 2010
Oftbeat Percussion is pleased to announce two new products –- just in time for the holidays—that have been added to the dazzling array of percussion selections available at the store, located within the Studio. The “Jumbie Jam” is a well made, user friendly, entry-level steel drum. An award winning design and product package that has been the talk of the percussion industry for the past year, it comes packaged with everything you need to play and includes a beginning book with cd. These wonderful drums are made in America, (Akron, Ohio) by Panyard. Not only are they great for the entry-level percussionist, but are also suitable for complete professional set-ups.
Also new are ‘dem bones—“Rhythm Bones!” Rhythm bones are an ancient percussion instrument that began with a pair of rib bones, held between the fingers and struck together with a flick of the wrist. They are used in many traditional music styles, like folk, bluegrass, jazz, polka, and blues. These fabulous bones are made right here in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Penninsula, utilizing many native hardwoods and exotic imports.
Bryan Turner has been building up his Oftbeat Percussion business at Studio 1219 for several years, now, eventually working toward moving on to his own shop in town. For more information, patrons can visit the Studio, or click http://studio1219.com/shops/ for contact information.
