LUNAFEST: Short Films By...For..About Women. The 9th annual national touring film festival is dedicated to promoting awareness about women’s issues, highlighting women filmmakers, and bringing women together in their communities. It will be hosted by Studio 1219 at 1219 Military Street in Port Huron at 8pm on Saturday, October 3, 2009.
This unique film festival highlights women as leaders in society, illustrated through nine short films by women filmmakers. The films range from animation to fictional drama, and cover topics such as women’s health, motherhood, body image, sexuality, cultural diversity, and breaking barriers.
All proceeds from LUNAFEST will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund and Studio 1219’s breast cancer fund at Port Huron and Mercy Hospitals for screening for uninsured and under-insured women. Thus far, LUNAFEST, which is created and funded by LUNA®, The Whole Nutrition Bar for Women®, raised over $200,000 for Breast Cancer Fund and over $470,000 for other women’s non-profit organizations.
LUNAFEST® at Studio 1219 is made possible, in part, by the generous support of E&A Credit Union, Woman’s Life, and Citizens First Foundation.
Tickets may be purchased at the Studio for $10, general admission. Refreshments provided with admission. Doors open at 7 pm, show starts at 8
