Luminous Art Show Next at Studio 1219

April 23 through May 22, Studio 1219 in Port Huron introduces a luminous art show in the Van Gogh and Chase Galleries, “Radiant Canvases: Glass as Art.” The public is invited to an opening wine and cheese reception of the Studio’s latest show, 6pm till 9pm this Friday, April 23. It is an opportunity to meet some of the artists and talk with them about what inspired their creations. There is no charge for the reception or the show.
“Speaking as a lighting designer,” said Lee-Perry Belleau, Studio 1219’s Executive Director, “one of the hardest things to design with is light, because it is so ephemeral and enigmatic. Yet this is where some of our fine artists play—working to capture light and color and form in “radiant canvases.” Using glass as their medium, these artists explore the play of light in—and through—their work.”
Many might think this art show would be all about stained glass, but it’s much more than that. Patrons will also see three-dimensional glass art, art glass bowls, vases and more.
The show features new work from some amazing glass artists of the Studio, including Robin Hages, Kathy Watson, and Donn Enger—to name a few, as well as students of Michigan Hot Glass in Detroit.
