“Great Lakes, Great Takes: Art Inspired by Water” opens at Studio 1219

This juried art show in all media features artists’ interpretations of the lakes’ presence in the landscape and life of Michigan. The reception is 6pm till 9pm this Friday, July 2 at Studio 1219, 1219 Military Street in Port Huron, Michigan and includes wine and hors d’ouvres. It is free and open to the public.
The theme for the show includes the lakes themselves, the coasts, rivers and wetlands, ships and sailing craft, beaches and wildlife, lighthouses, by the water, on the water, in the water and anything related to the water that explores the rich heritage of life on the lakes.
Additionally, handmade original models of Great Lakes ships will be supplied by the Great Lakes Nautical Society who, along with the Studio, will host a model building workshop later in July. The show will also highlight Master Modeler Ed Kuznia, of Richmond. The models, as well as all the art work, will be available for sale.
