Fire & Ice - Call to Artists and Volunteers

Posted April 24, 2007

Fire and Ice is a Pottery and Glass Festival dedicated to educating and exploring art from the earth.

imageCome experience the Japanese process of firing pottery called “Raku”. Pieces of pottery will be available for the public to glaze (paint) and then our talented artists will fire it for you in the festivals “Raku Yard.” The weekend will include demonstrations by talented artists that work in the clay, glass and wood arts. Artists, please let us know if you have an art that you would like to demonstrate in the Artists Action Tent. Enjoy the fun of a Pottery Olympics; events between pottery on the county stage. Who can throw the fastest, who can throw the tallest or maybe blind folded?

There will be a free Fire & Ice Children’s Tent with art activities in clay and stained glass. While clay, glass and wood artists sell their ware in the streets, enjoy the many restaurants and food vendors located around the Festival grounds. The year 2007 is Port Huron’s Sesquicentennial year; we look forward to celebrating 150 years with you!
