Art gallery deserves support; exhibit features creative bras
Posted October 23, 2007
I am a volunteer with Studio 1219 in downtown Port Huron, and I believe we have an amazing addition to our community.
Studio 1219 offers a wide variety of art classes, stimulating events and a gallery full of art. This month, the studio is hosting a series of events to spotlight women in the arts and to raise money for the studio’s Breast Cancer Fund.
There is a woman’s art show in the yoga gallery featuring visual art of some of the best local women artists in various mediums. Duane Collins’ gorgeous pottery is featured in the solo gallery.
In addition, our “bra art” exhibit is on display in the classroom area. Planners of this event thought maybe 15 bras would be submitted, but received an astounding 80. The creativity, workmanship and the clever titles make it a “must-see” display, and, for a buck, you can vote for your favorites, and there still is plenty of fun to be had.
The studio is hosting a “Meet the Artists Pink Party” on Oct. 26. We will auction off the top bras as well as two original paintings created for this event. Rumor has it that bras will be modeled before the auction. This evening promises to be memorable.
If you have not visited Studio 1219 and have been thinking of doing so, this is a great time. Studio 1219 values the community’s support, and we welcome newcomers.
Why not discover all we have to offer? You don’t have to be an artist to get involved.
