Studio Classes

Studio 1219 is an amazing art incubator that provides the community (from kids to adults) with the opportunity to explore the arts hands-on through drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery, mixed media and art exhibitions in our studio and gallery.

Class Policies

Registration
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment is due in full at the time of registration. Registrations will be accepted until the second week of class if space is available, however, tuition will not be prorated. At times we may need to delay the start date of a class, in this case, the missed class will be rescheduled by the instructor and students will be notified by the Studio.

  • Payment:  Registration is accepted online at www.studio1219.com using PayPal, by mail, over the phone (810)984-2787, or in person. Registrations are not accepted in the classroom.
  • Returned checks:  A $30 service charge is applied to any check returned due to insufficient funds.
  • Refunds:  Refunds are given in full if the class is cancelled by the Studio. ALL refunds will be made by check. A refund (less a $10 processing fee) will also be given ONLY if the registrant withdrawal is at least one week prior to the first class session. NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE AFTER THE ONE WEEK ADVANCED DEADLINE. A gift certificate will be issued for the withdrawn registrant for future class(es) and will expire one year after date issued.  If you attend a class and drop-out, you will be charged the $25/day drop-in rate and issued a class gift certificate for the remaining balance.

Drop-ins:  Daily drop-in rate is $25 per class.
Cancellations:  Studio 1219 reserves the right to cancel any class with insufficient enrollment. Registrants will be notified and will receive a full refund. We always try to find additional students to allow the class to run at a later date or run the class again in the next session.
Class Entrance:  All students must enter and exit through the alley (back) door of Studio 1219. This is also our handicap entrance with elevator access. Our classroom is located on the third level; the pottery studio is on the ground level at the back of the building.
Inclement Weather:  Studio 1219 classes will meet as scheduled regardless of school closings due to weather. If Studio 1219 finds it necessary to close as a result of severe weather conditions, cancellation information will be posted on the phone system recording at 810-985-0035. Class sessions cancelled due to inclement weather will be rescheduled when possible by the instructor.
Waiting List:  When class fills quickly, Studio 1219 will offer registrants the opportunity to be placed on a waiting list. Students on the wait list will be called when space becomes available or if there are enough students to offer another class section.
Materials:

  • Youth Classes:  All supplies are provided, unless specifically noted in class description.
  • Adult Classes:  Adult students are required to purchase their own supplies. A material list will be provided at the first class. Most materials are available locally or online. Lab fees must be paid at time of registration.
  • Clay Classes:  Clay students receive 25 lbs of clay as part of their class tuition. Additional clay can be purchased through the instructor and paid for at the sales counter.

Promotional Photography:  Studio 1219 reserves the right to photograph activities that occur on its premises including students in class and student artwork for use in Studio 1219’s promotional materials.
Child Drop-off/Pick-up:  For the safety of young students, Studio 1219 requires that parents do not drop children off more than 10 minutes before start of class and always pick children up within 5 minutes following class.  You must sign them in each day of class.
Personal Items:  Studio 1219 is not responsible for personal items left in the classroom or artwork not picked up by the second week following the end of class, this includes ceramics. Please contact Studio 1219 if you wish to make other arrangements. Clay students must take their leftover clay home at the end of the class session. The Studio has limited storage space and cannot accommodate this service.
Custom Classes and Workshops:  Would you like to take an arts or crafts class/workshop that is not listed or at a different time?

  • Find six students to take the class with you.
  • Contact the Education Director.
  • The Studio will find an instructor and set a date that is mutually agreeable for everyone.
  • Fee is determined by number of students, materials and time.

Studio 1219 reserves the right to change fees, times and dates due to unforeseen circumstances. Because it is not possible to correct distributed printed materials, the website is the most current official source of dates, times and fees.

If you have any questions concerning classes, email the Studio's Education Department or call (810) 984-ARTS.
