Studio Classes

Studio 1219 is an amazing art incubator that provides the community (from kids to adults) with the opportunity to explore the arts hands-on through drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery, mixed media and art exhibitions in our studio and gallery.

Below you will find a list of classes currently being offered. Filtering by category will give you a complete list of all the classes being offered in the selected category. If you have any questions concerning classes, email Maureen at mscallen@studio1219.com.

Family & Children's Art

Youngest Learners: Hand/Footprints - $15 - Registration: Open
Classes start February 24, 2008 and will be held Sundays, 3:30-4:30pm

Description: We offer babies the opportunity to make their marks in clay for the delight of their parents and grandparents. Pick up two weeks later during gallery hours. Must register one week in advance - Ages: All Ages - More details

Altered Books - Half Day Camp (Morning Session) - $90.00 - Registration: Open
Classes start June 16, 2008 and will be held Mon - Fri, 8:30am - 11:30am

Description: Learn to recycle a book into a creative unique piece of art using old books and maps.  An altered book is a form of mixed media artwork that changes a book from its original form into something else. An altered book artist cuts, tears, glues, folds, paints, adds to, collages, creates pop-ups, and rubber-stamps. - Ages: Children - More details

Children’s Watercolor Class - Session 3 - $75.00 - Registration: Open

Description: How can we spend the summer not painting outdoors during part of this class? We will paint on the balcony at the studio, visit a local garden, and meet at the seaway terminal weather permitting. Description: This class will explore various techniques in watercolor and acrylic painting, using still life, photographs and sketch books as reference material.  The emphasis will be on design and color.  Possibility of plein air experience. Introduction to Glass Beadmaking - Session 1 - $170 - Registration: Open
Classes start May 17, 2008 and will be held Saturday / Sunday, 10am-4pm

Description: Create your own work of wearable art! In this two-day workshop students are introduced to the art of glass beadmaking (Lampworking). Students also learn the basic skills of working with glass and learn how to melt glass around mandrels to create their own unique beads. No prior glass-working experience is needed. Description: Experience a real clay studio! Let the mud fly! Learn how to wedge clay, center and form shapes on the pottery wheel, hand build, use all the special equipment in the Citizen’s First Pottery Studio and finish your work with colorful glaze. We’re not afraid to get messy! Pick up glazed pieces with in 30 days of the end of camp. We can not store art work. Special Events

Studio 1219 is a multi-purpose building open to the public. Space can be rented out for birthday parties, receptions, meetings, bridal showers, baby showers, and much more. Prices vary depending on space needs, use after hours, keeping the gallery open, and food/beverage requests. Please call (810) 984-ARTS for more information.

Policies

Classes fill on a first come, first serve basis. Students will be registered upon receipt of full payment. Register three business days before scheduled start date unless otherwise noted.

Cancellation

We reserve the right to cancel due to low enrollment. If Port Huron area schools are closed, classes are cancelled. Classes may not be rescheduled.

Refunds

The deadline for refunds is three (3) business days before first class unless noted otherwise. A $20 fee will be deducted from all refunds requested prior to registration deadline. No refunds will be made after the registration deadline.

Simply stop by the Studio and we'll help you through the process. We accept checks, Visa and Mastercard. Checks payable to "Studio 1219".

All of our online registrations are securely handled through Paypal. Register by simply visiting the page of the particular class you would to attend and selecting the "Register" link. The registration link will only appear if online registration is available.

Scholarships are available for ages 20 and under! Download the Scholarship App, complete and mail to Studio 1219 to apply.

Building Use

Studio 1219 is a multi-purpose building open to the public. Space can be rented out for birthday parties, receptions, meetings, bridal showers, baby showers, and much more. Prices vary.
