Michelle Nora Jensen
Michelle had no idea that when she lit her first torch and started melting glass, how important it would become to her. Initially she had started designing jewelry as a way to unwind from working a stressful job as a probation and parole agent. Her jewelry designing turned into an interest with Lampwork beads, and with the encouragement of her husband she took a four-hour workshop in Lampworking. Michelle continued to teach herself through reading on glass bead making and lots of practice. Upon moving to the Port Huron area Michelle discovered Studio 1219 and joined the gallery.
Michelle feels Studio 1219 is a wonderful outlet for her, it motivates her to keep pushing herself to try new things. She also enjoys the opportunity to be around like-minded people who love the arts. She teaches lampworking to others who have an interest in the art.
More recently Michelle has earned the privilege of having one of her handmade beads selected to go into space. The program Beads of Courage and NASA collaborate and send beads into space as a way to provide encouragement to children living with life threatening illness.
