Kenneth Riedel

Kenneth RiedelKenneth Riedel is the vice president of the “BlueWater Area Woodturners” chapter. He is a member of the American Association of Woodturners; his art is displayed at the Saint Clair Art Gallery, Studio 1219 in Port Huron and in private collections. He has been perfecting his craft of wood working for 30 years.

Kenneth now specializes in woodturning, making both utility items such as bowls large and small, and decorative and art pieces. Each piece formed by Mr. Riedel’s art of woodturning is a unique creation. The manner in which he fashions the finished design in harmony with the characteristics of the wood ensures that there will never be another piece exactly like it. Kenneth has received numerous honors and awards at community art shows for his outstanding creations.

Artist’s Statement:
I have attended instructional symposiums where internationally acclaimed demonstrators taught methods to create both traditional and unique forms through woodturning. I have also received hands-on instruction from nationally known experts in the field of woodturning, in order to elevate my abilities to above average, such as those accepted as characteristic of a skilled artist.

I also accept consignment work, and regularly make wooden urns for the remains of a loved one or pet, vases, hollow forms, salad bowls large and small, wood pens, spindles and art pieces. Do you have wood from that old tree that you or your children used to play in? The old crib or rocking chair you used for your babies? I can use THAT wood to make pieces for you and your loved ones so that your memories will live on.

The care and handling of wooden bowls is similar to that of fine furniture. Take some precaution as to the humidity in the air, and avoid direct sunlight for extended periods. A dry environment without humidity can cause cracking so keep bowls away from woodstoves and heat vents, avoiding drastic climate changes. Bowls to be used in the kitchen should be oiled with mineral oil periodically, and cleaned with a mild soap after use; never immerse in water or place in the dishwasher.

Our desire is for you to receive a lifetime of pleasure from your purchase, and for us to gain a satisfied customer for life.

Instructional sessions for students interested in acquiring/improving their own woodturning techniques are available.
