I became a dancer. It seemed an unlikely move for a shy, serious klutz but I had been given the grace to follow my intuition. My heart was soaring but my hands were shaking. Despite the fact that I had to work harder than some of the others, I turned out to have a few natural gifts, including an elegant sense of line. Out on the dance floor, completely vulnerable, working with others to create fleeting images of beauty, I was very open to God. The lessons I learned there have served me well. We are given our deepest desires for a reason. I learned to follow a dream, even what seemed an unlikely one, one step at a time. I learned that willingness and perseverance will overcome a number of obstacles. I learned that creativity can be nurtured and skills taught--that artists aren’t necessarily born.
Now I work with glass. The joy I once found in movement I now also find in color, light, and line. Being an artist is a way of looking at the world and making parts of that vision apparent to others. Glass is a beautiful medium for exploring color and light. I am still known for having elegant lines, along with a strong sense of color and joy. I am happy to be able to share my work with others.
