Jane Weis
I specialize in oil painting because I love the creamy consistency of the paint and the vibrancy of color I can get. I get enthused when I am painting a subject that has intense interplay of light and colors. Nature in all its forms attract me especially those that are seemingly ordinary but then in a moment are touched by a passing light and are transformed into the extraordinary. This transformation is what inspires me to paint along with my own inner guidance to achieve painting excellence.
When I turned 12 years old my Mom gave me my first set of oil paints and an easel. I immediately painted my first oil painting on a readily available canvas – a piece of corrugated cardboard. And from that moment on I knew in my heart that I was going to be an artist. After raising my family and finishing my college degree, I began my art career as an emerging artist in 1997. I have been accepted into numerous Juried Art Exhibits throughout Michigan. My art hangs in private collections throughout the United States and in Corporate Collections including The Exchange State Bank and the Ann Arbor Bank of Michigan.
In 2001, the Yale DDA commissioned me to paint 12, 5 feet by 10 feet scenic murals of historical Yale that now hang on the Fairway Discount Store in Yale, Michigan. Please drive out here to Yale to view them and to come and visit me at my studio.
In 2004, I opened up the Yellow Brush Art Studio where I paint, offer art instruction and have a gallery of my oils on display. I have found that teaching is a very rewarding experience and I am not only rewarded by how often I get to see the joy on the faces of my students when they finally accomplish some specific art technique, but I also see how much I gain from teaching and how much I can learn from my students.
