Dorothy Wagner

I live just outside Capac, MI on 10 acres of rolling land.  I did all sorts of art work as a child.  My hands were always busy - either drawing, painting or making something.  I like color - both bright and muted with impressionistic qualities.  Many people consider my paintings soft and gentle yet exciting and expressive.  I want to show the beauty and love in this world.  The things that bring smiles to your face.

I’m a graduate of Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, Calif.  I worked as a Senior Creative Designer at General Motors Tech Center in the Frigidaire and Automotive Interior Studios. Now retired I devote my time to fine art and 3 dimensional creative objects such as abstract wall hangings and digital clocks.

I have had a one woman show at the Port Huron Museum in Port Huron, Michigan and another in the Founders Gallery at the Flint Art Institute in Flint, Michigan

Other shows include:

  • Eastern Michigan International, Port Huron, MI
  • BBAA of Birmingham, MI
  • International Women’s Conference, Beijing, China
  • Art for Women’s Cancer Month, Studio 1219 Port Huron, MI

My work can be found in numerous private collections:

  • Port Huron Museum, Port Huron, MI
  • National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC
  • Michigan State University Wildlife Center, East Lansing, MI

I have received many prizes for my work including Best of Show at the Eastern Michigan International Show

I also taught watercolor painting at the Port Huron Museum
