Celeste Skalnek
Celeste has many interests including, landscape design, gardening, and teaching ceramic classes. She can be found teaching in her studio, at Studio 1219 or at St. Clair County Community College. She has enjoyed establishing the annual Potters Market at SC4. She also finds time to pursue her own line of functional pottery. She enjoys making cookware to fit her favorite recipes. One being her Grandmother’s Brown Bread, which she bakes in clay cylinders, resembling the cans her Grandma used in the 1950’s.
Celeste lives on the Pine River in a picturesque setting that inspires her work. The unique quality of her pottery blends well with any setting. The more you use these one of a kind pieces, the more you will love them. For her, clay is just another element of our earth with which to express her creativity and love of the outdoors.
